MBA Internship Program

How can I apply for the MBA Internship Program?

You have to be a student at one of our partner MBA schools. You will get a password for the protected application form area from your career center representatives.

To whom should I send my application?

Please use our password protected E-Recruiting-System to apply for the program.

When should I apply?

There are to different application deadlines, depending on the location of your studies. Please comply with the following terms. Otherwise we are not able to accept your application.

What should the application package include?

Your application package should include a cover letter and resume. It should be attached to the e-recruiting application form. You can apply for up to three projects.

How long does the selection process last?

All applicants will receive a confirmation once their application has been received. Further notifications will be sent throughout the selection phase (e.g. short list and phone interview).

What happens after I am selected for an internship?

Once you have received an offer, you will have between one week and two weeks to make a decision. This time frame can vary depending on the project.

What are the procedures for travel reimbursement?

To be reimbursed, you must hand your original tickets and receipts to the local HR office. In Germany, reimbursement is handled by:

Who books the flight to and from the internship location?

The student is responsible for these travel arrangements.

Which expenses are reimbursed by Deutsche Post World Net?

Here is the list of the reimbursed expenses. All the other expenses will not be covered.

 

  • Flight/train ticket to and from the internship location in the economy class.
  • Taxi/bus to the airport or train station.
  • Accommodations (paid directly)
  • Visa (and all expenses associated with visa arrangements) and insurance premiums will not be reimbursed.


The travel and accommodation expenses for relatives or friends will NOT be reimbursed.
You may share your accommodations with your spouse or children free of charge. You should obtain permission beforehand.

Travel expenses incurred during business trips will be reimbursed by the intern's department under company guidelines. Please ask your manager about procedures.

How long does it take to get a visa?

Depending on the country, the amount of time can vary. The process usually takes four to six weeks.
Interns working outside Germany should contact their local HR office for assistance. In Germany, visa procedures are conducted this way:

 

  1. After a student accepts a job offer, we contact him or her and ask for the documents needed to obtain a work permit. We also send the student a contract to be signed.
  2. After we receive the documents and the contract, we apply for the work permit. It takes up to six weeks for the permit to be issued.
  3. After the permit has been issued, we send it to the student via DHL.
  4. The student collects all the documents required for the visa (including the work permit) and goes to the embassy. After applying for the visa in the embassy, the student usually receives it within one week. But the student should know that it may take up to three weeks to get an appointment at the embassy.


The student is responsible for finding out about the required documents and applying for the visa.

Who is responsible for insurance?

The student is responsible for making insurance arrangements.

May I open a account in the internship location?

Interns in Germany may open accounts at local banks after they register their addresses with city officials. Please contact your local HR office about the rules in other countries.

How will the salary be paid?

Your salary will be transferred to your bank account. Cash or checks are not used.

May I use my foreign bank account to get salary and reimbursement?

Yes. To set up this payment plan, you will need to know your bank's IBAN (international bank account number). Transfer fees are not covered.

Who is responsible for arranging accommodations?

In Bonn, all interns will stay in the same hotel.
Local HR offices will inform interns working in other cities about their accommodations.

May I take my family or my friends with me?

Yes, you may bring your spouse or children with you. But you will need the approval of your local HR and manager beforehand. Travel expenses incurred by your family are not reimbursed by Deutsche Post World Net.

What contains the accommodation?

Normally breakfast. Additionally arising costs (telephone, cleaning etc.) are not refunded.

What should I expect on the first day of my internship?

On your first day, your mentor will introduce you to the team, tell you about the company policies and discuss your project with you. You should also contact your manager about the dress code.

What sort of vacation will I receive?

Officially, no vacations are included in the program. You may ask your local HR office for an extra entitlement.

Who is my point of contact for questions regarding my visa and work permit?

The point of contact for interns in Germany is HR Management via Deutsche Post Consult (DPC). Interns will be contacted during the application phase of this process.
Interns in other countries should be contacted immediately by the responsible HR person.

Will I get a letter of recommendation after my internship?

After you complete your internship, you will get a letter of recommendation from your local HR office. The letter will be based on the intern evaluation form (filled out by the intern's manager).
